Add Objects   |   Actions

A Group is a way of sorting objects in multiple ways and for any purpose you need. To create a new Group, switch to Plot edit mode, and open the Groups table. Use the + button to add a new Group, set its name and color, and any description you need to describe its purpose.

Add Objects

Now, add objects to your Group. The simplest way to do it is by dragging the + button on the left of the Group name, just like you would target an object with a Unit. Drag the crosshairs over an Object to add it to the Group (or remove it, if it’s already in the Group). If you have multiple objects selected, your Group will be added to all of them if you assign to one of them. An Object can be in as many different Groups as you want, and Groups can contain any number of Objects.

Each object can have one Primary Group, which will determine the object’s nickname/DMX label color. The source of the color is always the Group, so if you change your Group’s color, all its Objects’ displayed colors will change too. If the object has no Primary Group, it will display its own colors. You can assign a primary Group in the Object’s detail table.

In the Groups table, each Group shows how many objects it contains. If you tap the button to get to the Group’s detail table, you’ll see a list of all the objects the Group contains. (☆ indicates that the Group is that object’s Primary Group.) This is one place you can remove objects from the Group, by tapping Edit or swiping right-to-left on the object row.

Actions

Once you have your Group assigned to objects, you can begin to manipulate them. Tapping on a Group will select all objects in that Group.

Multi-Move
Because Groups are accessible only in Plot edit mode, the objects that are selected will not be movable by dragging them directly. To move a Group’s objects, use the multi-move technique (dragging and rotating with a three-finger touch).

Hide, Solo, Lock, Opacity
All objects in a Group can be hidden, etc just the same as a collection of multi-selected objects. The Group itself also has hide/solo/lock/opacity properties, so if new objects are added to the group, they will adopt those properties. Objects will always adopt the display settings and color of their Primary Group, and ignore other Groups’ settings (but will remain part of the other Groups for selection purposes).
